Biography: Elizabeth Jarman

Elizabeth Jarman is an award winning international education professional, specialising in creating really effective learning environments. She is the founder and managing director of the ELIZABETH JARMAN® Group. Her company is the sole provider of The Communication Friendly Spaces™ Approach, which helps schools and settings to re-think the way they use their environment to set the scene effectively for learning to take place. Using intelligence from commissioned research programmes, taking account of different learning styles and also preferred contexts for learning, Elizabeth’s thinking is professionally challenging the way that environments for children are viewed.

Working with architects to educators, Elizabeth leads an international team of experts who deliver training, consultancy, develop resources and commission action research on improving learning environments. She has a particular interest in engaging families in children’s learning. Elizabeth writes for the education sector press and has published several books on The Communication Friendly Spaces™ Approach.

She has a background in teaching and worked as an assistant director for the Basic Skills Agency, UK where she led national programmes on behalf of the Department for Education.

In Europe, Elizabeth worked as lead UK consultant with UNESCO advising on the development of Family Learning schemes. She is currently overseeing international projects in Bangkok, India and Malaysia. In the US, Elizabeth has recently led an action research project with Early Intervention Centers and schools across Ohio.
